Anyone who’s ever seen a video that I shot and produced knows that I have a sordid love of low-budget web videos. 1. Because I have no budget. And, 2. There’s something about knowing just how low-budget it was that makes it authentic as hell. I also love Philly. For all of its nasty grimy anger inducing parts, it’s a great city and by god, it’s home.
I recently got sent a link to a video called “July,” a promo single from Steve Goldberg and the Arch Enemies. This video was recorded entirely on an Android phone in and around Philadelphia: pretty much as low budget as it gets. The song is fun. And its feel-good quirkiness is almost as fun as trying to identify the random Philly shots in the video. I'm pretty sure that's the park near Royal Tavern.
They have a kind of kick-starter going to fund their EP’s post-production. That link is here. But if nothing else, check out the video below. It’s worth the 3 minutes of your life.

Drink Philly & Khyber Pass Pub Team Up for Charity
Yes, it really is August 1st and that means August First Friday is upon us. While the battle for the next generation of First Friday continues between Old City and Frankford, the main events are still happening on this side of the Ben Franklin.
On Friday, August 5, Drink Philly will be celebrating its First Friday event's one-year anniversary and they've partnered with Khyber Pass Pub to make this month's shindig charitable, benefitting Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
As usual the event at Drink Philly’s Old City Headquarters is free to attend but donations are encouraged. From 5pm – 9pm, enjoy cocktails, live jazz played by Dan Hanrahan, and an art exhibition featuring local artists.
Philadelphia Distilling will serve up Lemon Moonshine Margaritas and Khyber Pass Pub will be providing the snacks, while supplies last, so get there early. This month, there will be a raffle to win prizes from local businesses and all proceeds will go to benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer.
When the party at Drink Philly’s Headquarters winds down, head over to Khyber Pass Pub for the official after-party for discounted Shine Whiskey and Bluecoat Gin cocktails for the night.
Both events are 21+ to attend.

Seinfeld Quizzo at Drinkers West
This Tuesday, August 2, at 8pm, Drinker's West is holding the cult quizzo of all cult quizzos, Seinfeld.
Plus, their August taco has been unveiled, partially. This month's taco is the Mystery Meat Taco: diced potatoes, avocado, feta cheese, thin-sliced red onion, fresh oregano, chipotle cream sauce and mystery meat served chilled in a soft flour tortilla. I say its mutton!
