2nd Saturday Presents PAWS in Manayunk

This month, Manayunk is opening up its Second Saturday to both people and pets when PAWS comes to Manayunk this Saturday, July 9 from 12pm – 4pm. The Levering Parking Lot on Main Street will be the focal point for the 5th Annual PAWS in Manayunk event.

Pet owners are welcome to bring their pets down for a Pet Parade, led by local radio personality Wendy Rollins of Radio 104.5. Pets that participate in the parade will be entered to win prizes for themselves and their owners from Manayunk businesses like Main Street Music, Nicole Miller, Top Tails Sitting & Dog Walking, The Eyeglass Works, Salon l'Etoile, Main Street Animal Clinic, Spectrum Scientific, Whirled Peace, SEnor, Mom's Bake at Home PIzza, Kildare's, Bourbon Blue, Cinderella Nails, Revival Smith, The Spiral Bookcase and Good Vibrationz.

There will be a Charity Dog Wash hosted by Canine Clippers to benefit phillypaws.org and many of Manayunk’s outdoor cafes will be offering brunch for both people and their pets.

There will be a PAWS table for potential pet parents to meet their future furry ones as well as live entertainment, demonstrations and exhibits.

Fridays in Fairmount

During the months of July and August, Eastern State Penitentiary’s Friday night tours have an added value. With a ticket stub from the evenings tours that run until 8pm on Fridays, enjoy discounts at seven different neighborhood spots. Full details are below.

U-City’s Baltimore Ave Dollar Stroll is Back!

U-City First Thursday Baltimore Avenue Dollar Stroll was condemned as a “dollar stand,” when apparently way too many people came out of the woodwork for $1 deals. This month, be prepared: bring your standing shoes and dollar bills for July’s event.

Tomorrow, Thursday, July 7, from 5:30 – 8:30pm, stroll Baltimore Ave. from 42nd – 50th for $1 food, live music and street performances.

There will be food trucks, vendors and all around deal busting festivities. Plus, the Clark Park Farmers’ Market will be going on from 3pm – 7pm.

Philadelphia Cinema Alliance Hosts QFest & Dangers After Dark

Over the next 12 days, July 7th – 18th, LGBT directors and actors will be introducing their films and interacting with audiences at Ritz theaters around the city during the 17th Edition of QFest. Beginning tomorrow, Thursday, July 7, over 125 different films will be screened, bringing over 80 filmmakers and actors to Philadelphia. There will be panel discussions, receptions, parties and awards throughout the 12-day festival.

QFest is widely considered one of the leading GLBT film festivals in the country. Each July Philadelphia plays host to the event, created in 1995 by TLA Entertainment.

Also taking place during QFest is Dangers after Dark, the action and horror film festival, now in its 11th year. DAD will be showing nine different films aver the course of its festival.
