Opa Launches Happy Hour with Complimentary Eats

There's no better way to entice the city's fiscally challenged, yet stylishly savvy to your swank Midtown Village restaurant than to launch your brand new happy hour with two hours of freebies and some undeniably great deals.

This Thursday, January 19, from 5 - 7pm, Opa will be kicking off its first-ever happy hour by offering complimentary food and drinks during unannounced half hour intervals.

Opa's Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday, from 5pm – 7pm. On the agenda:

$1 Skewers
$2 Sliders
$3 Craft Beers
$3 Greekified Fries
$3 Meatballs
$4 House Wine
$5 Specialty Cocktails
$5 Sparkling Wine

Please be advised, these recession proof prices are only available at the bar. So get there early for a seat!

Btw, they're also doing a "Spread the word and win" promo. Like them on facebook or follow them on twitter and be entered to win a free happy hour. Winners will be named nightly through the end of the month.

Shuckin’ & Grillin’ at Village Belle

Between all the oyster shucking and burger grilling, the staff at Village Belle has a busy weekend ahead of them. It all begins tonight, Thursday June 30, when the second installment of “Behind Belle’s Bar” kicks off at 6pm.

Guest expert Lisa Tiscavitch of Samuels & Sons Seafood, will be shucking oysters and teaching all about the different varieties. On the menu will be Cape May Salts, Blue Points and Beau Soleil from the East Coast and Kumamoto, Effingham, and Drunken Kiss oysters from the West coast.

On Friday & Saturday, July 1 & 2, Village Belle’s Chef’s Joey and Lou Campanaro will be grilling up what has been called The World’s Best Burger, on the lawn outside of the restaurant. Burgers are $8 each, but the view of the fireworks over Penn’s Landing on Saturday is free.

Wednesday = Center City District Sips

It’s Wednesday, and that means cheap drinks at some of the city’s most pricy establishments. Center City District Sips, the weekly Wednesday night Happy Hour Series continues tonight with $4 cocktails, $3 wines, $2 beers and half price apps from 5pm – 7pm.

And don’t forget about the CCD Sips app that’s available to download. Some say it makes it harder to choose. My opinion? Download it and decide for yourself. It’s always good to know your options. Sometimes you’ll forget about a place that was on your mind and the app might just jog your memory. It’s available here for iPhone and Android.

If you find a great place that has awesome drinks or really good specials, feel free to comment below and share the wealth!

Center City Sips Goes High-Tech

Wednesdays just got a little more interesting and the usual Philadelphia summer schedule of a 3 3/4 day workweek may have just gotten shorter. Center City District Sips is back and officially launches tonight. Every Wednesday throughout the summer, the Center City District offers happy hour specials and discounts at all of its participating restaurants and bars.

From June 1 – August 31, from 5pm – 7pm, Center City District Sips will offer $4 cocktails, $3 wines, $2 beers and half price apps. Some places will even be offering 15% off dinners for those who stay on past 7pm. There are so many restaurants participating it’s pretty much impossible to keep track…

Or is it???????

This year, CCDS has gotten tech savvy and commissioned an app to help move the “where should we go” process along. The free CCD Sips app is available for both iPhone and Android and includes a map and full list of bars and specials. Sorry Blackberry people...time for an upgrade.
