uwishunu about the Chili Cook-Off at Liberty Lands Park

Last fall, the collaboration between A Full Plate’s Rib Cook-Off and the Fall Music Festival at Liberty Lands Park was so successful that the NoLibs eatery has decided to coordinate another of its legendary competitions with the Liberty Lands Music Festival, this season, delving into chili!

On Saturday, June 11, A Full Plate Café will be hosting its 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off at Liberty Lands Park at 3rd & Wildy Sts. in Northern Liberties from 12p.m. – 3:30p.m. Professional and amateur teams will compete in three separate categories of chili; classic red chili, white chili and vegan chili.

Beginning at 12pm, cook-off competitors will be serving up tastes of their creations, accompanied by A Full Plate Café’s sides including regular and veggie hot dogs, baked potatoes, nachos and corn bread. Soft drinks will be available for purchase as well as brews from Chili Cook-Off sponsor, Philadelphia Brewing Company.

The entrance fee for the cook-off is $10 for adults, $5 for children and free for kids under 5. All guests will be given a wristband, a spoon and a ballot in order to vote for the People’s Choice winner, which will be announced at 2:30pm.

Chili will be judged on consistency & texture, flavor & taste, spice & heat, aroma and appearance. Think the secret family chili recipe has what it takes to take the crown? Put it to the test and enter it into the competition. Those interested in competing must register before Friday, June 3, at 4pm. Entry forms are available at A Full Plate Café. The registration fee is $25 per chili. Team themes, decorations and costumes are highly encouraged.

For more information, complete contest details or to register a team contact Shannon or Liz at A Full Plate Café at info@afullplate.net or call 215- 627-4068.

Also going on that afternoon will be a flea market, craft bazaar and kids event. Immediately following the chili cook-off will be the Northern Liberties Spring Music Festival at Liberty Lands Park, so there’s tons of stuff going on for all ages.
